IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY's ANNUAL "4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR" SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY NIGHT, JUNE 29
… A NIGHT OF NASCAR AND A SKY FULL OF FIREWORKS
Irwindale, Calif. - - In what is fast-becoming a San Gabriel Valley family tradition, Irwindale Speedway will celebrate the USA's 226TH birthday in dramatic style with a show that promises to be their greatest and grandest display of fireworks ever, on Saturday night, June 29 directly after the conclusion of the evening's racing events.
"We just keep adding to the show each year, making it bigger and better. This year the company that we're working with are the same people who did the closing ceremonies at the Salt Lake Winter Olympics," enthused track VP Robert DeFazio. "I see the looks on the fans faces, young and old and get a big kick of their enjoyment," he added.
Irwindale's Saturday, June 29 display promises to be the first fireworks show of the holiday. "Our regular race date is Saturday night and with the 4th on a Thursday this year, we didn't want to wait until the 6th to celebrate late," DeFazio explained. "This will give our guests the opportunity to celebrate the holiday twice … Knowing them, that should be no problem whatsoever."
Prior to the fireworks finale there will be plenty of on-track excitement with a full card of motorsport action for the fans beginning with the track's now-traditional on-track autograph session at 6:00pm. Following that it's NASCAR Weekly Racing Presented by Dodge racing with the Jani-King Super Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, and Ultra Wheels Super Trucks.
The wild and wacky Demolition Derby, rescheduled from June 15, will cap off the on-track part of the night's entertainment. The house lights will then be doused
and the fans' attention directed skyward for a emotional and patriotic show featuring both fantastic fireworks and a specially-arranged musical score.
June 29 at the Speedway is a great way to jumpstart any family's 2002 4th of July holiday celebration. Adult tickets for the event are only $15.00 for a full night of great entertainment, kids (6 - 12) are only $5.00 with the little ones (5 and under) FREE. Mimi the Clown will have her red, white and blue face paint at the ready, the live house band will be playing from 4PM until 6PM, the on-track autograph session will be a mob scene, and the joint WILL be jumping.
Tickets are available on-line at www.irwindalespeedway.com, by phone (626) 358-1100, and in person at the track box office. Last year's event was a sell-out, and this year's is certain to break last year's record attendance.
