41 Target Sears Point race report

TEAM TARGET FINISHES 36th IN SONOMA
Spencer drops to 23rd in NASCAR Winston Cup championship points

SONOMA, Calif. (June 23, 2002) - The No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid R/T driven
by Jimmy Spencer finished in 36th place in the Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Sears
Point Raceway. Spencer dropped two spots to 23rd position in the NASCAR
Winston Cup championship points; he is 15 points behind Jeff Green who is
currently in 22nd place.

The Target Dodge qualified in 35th position for the 110-lap road course
race. Spencer raced in the top-30 before the first caution came out on lap
37. Due to pitting on lap 30 earlier in the race, Team Target chose not to
pit during the caution period and gained valuable ground on the competition.
Spencer restarted in 23rd position but slowly dropped back to the top-30
again.

Team Target made adjustments on the car during the caution period on lap 68
while Spencer struggled to get out of the top-30. A gas-and-go pit stop on
lap 85 put Team Target in 23rd position on the restart. Unfortunately,
Spencer slowly fell back through the field. With six laps to go, the rear
end gear of the No. 41 Dodge broke and Spencer was stuck on the track. Team
Target finished in 36th place, six laps down to the leader.

Next on the schedule for the No. 41 Target team is the Pepsi 400 at Daytona
International Speedway on July 6, 2002.
