Tri County Motor Speedway Release
June 20, 2002
Hudson, NC - As Tri-County Motor Speedway reaches the midpoint of the 2002 race season track officials have announced plans to honor North Carolina law enforcement and public safety officials for a "Salute to Hometown Heroes." This special night of recognition will take place on Friday, June 28, 2002.
"We are so fortunate to have many people dedicated to protecting us and keeping everyone safe in our county," said track General Manager Jimmy Wilson. "Our country is still healing from events last year and this is something we wanted to do to recognize that everyone can make a difference, especially in our own backyard."
This season Tri-County Motor Speedway was reopened after the owners of the track reclaimed operational and managerial control of the speedway located in southern Caldwell County.
"We want to particularly thank members of the North Catawba and Hudson Fire Departments and Rescue Squads," added Wilson. "Both organizations have been very supportive of operations at Tri-County and they serve their community every single day of the year."
Any member of the Public Safety or Law Enforcement Departments in North Carolina will be admitted free of charge with picture identification. The track has invited members to bring any unit from their department for display at the track. Hudson Fire & Rescue is coordinating the vehicles for display.
"I would like to thank Hudson Fire and Rescue for assisting us in this special night," added Wilson.
