WHAT: American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio
American Le Mans Series Round 3 of 11
The weekend marks the return of both the
American Le Mans Series and the Trans-Am Series to Mid-Ohio Sports Car
Course. In addition to both of these events, Mid-Ohio will host SCCA SPEED
World Challenge, Star Mazda, and Formula Ford 2000.

ALMS RACING Le Mans Prototype (LMP) 900
CATEGORIES: Features closed-wheel, purpose-built racing chassis and 6.0
liter normally aspirated or 4.0 liter turbocharged engines. Cars may
include the Panoz LMP 07s and LMP-1s, Riley & Scott Mk3Cs, Lola B2Ks, Audi
R8s, Cadillac/Northstars and Reynard 01Qs.
Le Mans Prototype (LMP) 675
As "little brother" to the larger LMP 900s,
the LMP 675s use either 3.4 liter normally aspirated or 2.0 liter
turbocharged engines. Common manufacturers include Lola, Reynard and
Pilbeam.
Grand Touring Sport (GTS)
The GTS class is comprised of
production-based, two-wheel drive open or closed cockpit cars. Machines are
limited to 100-liter fuel tanks, six forward gears, 8.0 liter normally
aspirated and 4.0 liter turbocharged engines. Cars include Dodge Viper
GTS-R/Ts, Chevrolet C5-Rs, Saleen S7Rs, and Ferrari 550 Maranello.
Grand Touring (GT)
GT cars are production-based, two-wheel
drive open or closed cockpit cars that use 8.0 liter normally aspirated
engines or 4.0 liter turbocharged engines. Cars include BMW M3s, Callaway
C-12Rs, Chevrolet Corvette C5-Rs, Ferrari 360 Modenas, and Porsche 911s.
SUPPORT RACES: Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup

The Trans-Am Series is North America's
longest running road racing series, currently in its 37th season. Cars
include Chevrolet Corvettes and Camaros, Ford Mustangs, Panoz Esperantes and
Jaguar XKRs.

Sports Car Club of America SPEED World
Challenge
Sunday, June 30
GT Race: 8:55 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.; Touring
Race: 11:20 a.m. - 12:10 a.m.
(GT Race: 28 laps/63.224 miles; Touring
Race: 27 laps/60.966 miles)
The SCCA SPEED World Challenge consists of
two separate classes, the GT class and the Touring class. The GT class race
with 18" wheels with Toyo tires. The GT cars are permitted to have
aftermarket body kits and wings. Cars include Porches, Audi s4s, Corvettes,
Saleens, Acura NSXs, BMW M3s, and Ferraris.
The Touring class allows naturally aspired
engines that can not be larger than 2.8 liters, aftermarket wings, and 17"
rims. Touring class cars must have to come in production form and have a
back seat. Cars include Hondas, Acuras, Volkswagens, small BMWs, Lexuses,
Nissans, Ford SVT Focus', and Mercury Cougars.
Star Mazda
Saturday, June 29
5:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
(45 minute timed race)
In the Star Mazda Series every racer
receives the same car. The Formula Mazda is a flat bottom, 1140 lbs., 150
mph, open wheel race car. The engine is a 13b rotary engine that is rev
limited to 6,800 rpm. A driver has the opportunity to adjust his car's
wings, shocks (two way), anti-sway bars, and brake bias (cockpit
controlled).
Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship
Sunday, June 30
10:10 a.m. - 10:55 a.m.
(26 laps/58.708 miles)
The Formula Ford 2000 gives younger racers
the opportunity to showcase their skills and get used to open wheeled
racing. All cars are two cylinder formula cars.
