SHANE LEWIS GOING FOR BACK-TO-BACK WINS

-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

JUPITER, Fla., Tuesday, June 18, 2002 - Shane Lewis, having dominated the
most recent Grand-Am Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) in
April, will again drive the #43 Orison Marketing - Planet Earth Motorsports
Corvette this weekend at Watkins Glen (NY) International. Lewis, of Jupiter,
Fla., will be attempting to win back-to-back Grand-Am Cup Street Stock
Series’ contests at the Sports Car Grand Prix at the Glen on Saturday.
Should the bright-blue, green and black Corvette Z06 accomplish the feat of
winning back-to-back events, it will be the first GSI-class team to do so in
2002. The 3-hour or 250 mile event will take place on one of Lewis’ favorite
facilities, the 3.4-mile ‘long course’ at “The Glen” further strengthening
the team’s optimism.

“Anytime you win a race it gives you momentum going into the next event,”
remarked Lewis, the lead driver of the team. “However, this is such a hotly
contested series that to win and then come back and do it again the next
race is very difficult. ‘The Glen’ and Phoenix are two entirely different
types of tracks; worlds apart really. But, I think the Orison Marketing -
Planet Earth car has legs for both types of tracks. I really like the long
course and I am looking forward to racing the Corvette there. The fans are
going to get a good show.”

Lewis currently sits tied for sixth with teammate Joe Nonnamaker in Grand-Am
Cup GSI-class points. The Lancaster-California-born driver feels the team
has a legitimate shot at the Grand-Am Cup championship.

“We have a few disadvantages that we didn’t have at Phoenix in the way of
weight penalties but that is the official decision and we’ll have to make
the best of it,” appraised Lewis of the car’s new performance expectations.
“I still feel that we can do well at ‘The Glen’ and in the championship. We
did some testing at Mid-Ohio and think we learned a few things there. Still,
the other Vettes and Porsches are certainly not going to just hand us
anything. It is going to be a tough battle for the championship but we want
that title.”

Shane Lewis has been racing since 1989. He is the 1998 Professional Sports
Car Rising Star award winner and has multiple race wins in the IMSA Supercar
and SCCA Pro series. Lewis has American Le Mans Series (ALMS) podium
finishes at Silverstone, Nurburgring and last season at Portland. This
former Daytona Endurance Champion has driven in 16 24-hour races including
two 24 Hours of Le Mans, six 24 Hours of Daytona and six 12 Hours of
Sebring. In 2002, he is competing as the lead driver for the #43 Orison
Marketing - Planet Earth Corvette Z06 in the GSI-class of the Grand-Am Cup
Street Stock Series and as lead pilot of the #45 American Viperacing Dodge
Viper in the ALMS GTS-class.
