TEAM TARGET FINISHES 28th IN MICHIGAN
Spencer remains 21st in NASCAR Winston Cup championship points
BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 16, 2002) - The No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid R/T
driven by Jimmy Spencer finished in 28th place in the Sirius Satellite Radio
400 at Michigan International Speedway. Spencer remains in 21st position in
NASCAR Winston Cup championship points; he is 16 points behind Bobby Labonte
who is currently in 20th place.
The Target Dodge started the 200-lap event in 13th position, but Spencer
radioed in within the first 20 laps stating that his car was tight in the
middle of the corner off. Prior to the first pit stop, Spencer dropped back
to racing between 20th and 25th positions. Team Target made spring rubber
adjustments during the first two pit stops.
Spencer made up ground by taking a two-tire pit stop on lap 117 and gained
five positions to restart in 15th position, but eventually fell back due to
an ill-handling car. Spencer continued to run in the top-30 for the
remainder of the race before taking the checkered flag in 28th place, two
laps down to the leader.
Next on the schedule for the No. 41 Target team is the Dodge/Save Mart 350
at Sears Point Raceway on June 23, 2002.
