Radisson Indy 225 - Sunday, June 16, 2002 - Race Notes/Quotes
Pikes Peak International Raceway - Colorado Springs, Colo. - 1-Mile Oval
Round 7 of 15 on the 2002 Indy Racing League

Felipe Giaffone and the #21 Hollywood/Mo Nunn Racing Chevrolet G-Force
finished fourth in today's Radisson Indy 225 at Pikes Peak International
Raceway near Colorado Springs. He started third, but gave up the spot to
Sam Hornish, Jr., by Lap 6 and ran in the top six the rest of the race
before moving up to his final finishing position of fourth. Giaffone
recorded the fastest lap of the race at 20.830 seconds (172.824 mph) around
the mile oval.

Gil de Ferran scored his first career Indy Racing League victory today with
teammate Helio Castroneves finishing second and Hornish third. The race was
red-flagged for one hour due to rain and hail on Lap 37 of today's 225-lap
event.

The next race on the schedule is the SunTrust Indy Challenge at Richmond
(Va.) International Raceway on Saturday evening, June 29.

FELIPE GIAFFONE

"My car was pretty fast today for the most part. Right after my pit stops,
my car was especially fast, but after a short time it started to lose time.
We round out late in the race that the solution to the problem was to reduce
the air pressure in our tires. But by then it was too late to be able to
make a run for the leaders. So, all things considered, I think fourth place
is a good result for us. We were able to make some changes during the rain
delay that helped us a lot. All in all, it was a good weekend."
