                  JEREZ TEST 11-14 June 2002

                  Summary:
BMW WilliamsF1 team has tonight concluded a four day test
at the Jerez Circuit
in Spain. Juan Pablo Montoya and test team driver Marc
GenÈ made
preparations for the forthcoming European Grand Prix next
weekend. The team
focused on race-specific mechanical and electronic set-up
work, as well as
ongoing tyre development work with Michelin

Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer, WilliamsF1):
"After a good start to the test on days one and two with
Marc GenÈ driving, we had
a few problems with reliability issues, particularly
yesterday when we lost the
whole day. However, we completed some useful work for
Nurburgring relating to
electronics and mechanical setup. Juan-Pablo took over
driving duties for days
                  three and four."

                  Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):
"The Jerez test was very productive from a BMW
perspective. While the general
focus was on suspension and tyre development, we have
been working on further
improvements of traction control system and engine
mapping. Even though we
lost some time on Thursday due to a fire which was caused
by a leak in the fuel
supply system, we have made good progress towards our
targets. We have also
managed to identify the reasons for the engine problems
we have suffered in
Montreal. It is one disadvantage of the overseas races
that equipment is returned
a couple of days after the Grand Prix. On Wednesday we
dismantled the engines
and found out the following: Juan Pablo's engine stopped
in the race due to a
broken valve. On Ralf's car, a problem with a piston
appeared after he had
crossed the finish line. It actually was not a failure of
the piston itself but of the
                  operating conditions."
