Montgomery Struggles in Michigan 

 

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 14, 2002) - Getting to the front during the Flagstar 200 at Michigan International Speedway will be an uphill battle for ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Chase Montgomery.

 

Montgomery placed the #27 Montgomery Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo 20th on the starting grid. 

 

"We had a very disappointing qualifying run," Montgomery said.  "We were hoping for better, but we'll start 20th."

 

The crew adjusted the camber on the #27 car and made a few additional changes after the qualifying session.  Unfortunately, they weren't able to assess the new changes on the track due to happy hour being rained out.

 

"We have learned a lot this weekend," Montgomery said.  "We know that we didn't bring the right car for this track. We are going to go out in the race and finish as many laps as possible."

 

The Flagstar 200 at Michigan International Speedway begins at 1:30 PM EST. The race will be aired on Speed Channel beginning at 8:30 PM EST.
