Media reminder - Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship
Rounds 3 and 4
MEDIA EVENT REMINDER
Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship June 15-16, Innisfil Kart Club
Rounds three and four of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship will be
held at Innisfil Kart Club (www.innisfilkartclub.ca) this weekend.
“I am fairly confident this weekend,” said defending OKRA F125 champion Frank
Launi. “Innisfil is my home track and I think after a disappointing first two
rounds for me, the CMP team will be out in force this weekend.” Innisfil Kart
Club is the home of CMP Kart and expect other CMP drivers to battle for the top
spots.
CMP driver Brad Leliever is also ready to take advantage on his home track. “I
could use a little luck,” said Leliever. “All I’ve had so far is bad luck. This
is the real start to my year - hopefully.”
There are plenty of good teams set to challenge the CMP crowd at Innisfil.
Among them will be the brothers Penfold, who pilot a pair of Chiovitti TM
powered Hot Wheels Birels. Lately, the two brothers have acted like the more
famous Schumacher brothers of Formula 1. Alex Penfold is at the top of the
standings in Formula Senior with Richard in hot pursuit.
First Kart’s Robert Wickens is one to watch in Formula Junior and Canada
Junior. The likeable youngster made his mark at the first race weekend at
Mosport, he will be out to build on his points lead this weekend. Gold Kart’s
Aaron de Heus struggled at the first weekend, but expect him to challenge class
leader, and fellow Gold driver Kyle Herder at Innisfil.
"Sunoco has established a reputation for performance through racing. This is an
opportunity to give something back to the racing community and invest in the
future of Canadian motorsports.," said Rob King, Sunoco¹s Brand Marketing
Manager. "I’m looking forward to seeing the action on the track this weekend."
Practice for Rounds three and four of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting
Championship go on Saturday June 14, with qualifying and racing on June 15.

The objective of the the SRFKC is to help foster a professional environment for
kart drivers; help create a positive attitude towards appearance, conduct and
discipline; help foster the employment of the best practices for the safe and
fair running of competitions; and help kart drivers to move up the racing
ladder to automobile racing. At the end of the season, two drivers will be
selected from each of the four Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship classes,
along with two drivers from the ASN Canadian National Championships for special
awards. These drivers will be invited to a one-day evaluation test at the
Bridgestone/Firestone Racing Academy at Mosport, provided they are 16 years of
age prior to the date of the test. Out of those 10 drivers, two will earn a
full scholarship to the 2003 Bridgestone/Firestone Toronto Star Wheels F2000
racing series
