IRWINDALE DRAGSTRIP DISCONTINUES JUNIOR DRAGSTER
PRACTICE AT THURSDAY NIGHT “TEST and TUNE” SESSIONS



Irwindale, Calif. - - (June 12, 2002)   Effective immediately, Junior Dragsters will not be included in Irwindale Dragstrip's Thursday night Test and Tune Sessions.  The NHRA Junior class race cars will still be OK at many of the drag strip's Sunday Test and Tune events and all Junior racing events already on the calendar will go on as scheduled.

“Our Thursday night sessions are just drawing such large numbers of regular street legal competitors that we regretfully had to eliminate the Junior part of the show,”  said Dragstrip Director Gene Bergstrom.  

“Of course we welcome all of the Juniors to take part in many our scheduled Sunday test sessions and we are very much looking forward to their Division 7 Championships that will be held here on June 23 as well as their Series Finals on June 30.   These are some great kids, many of whom already look like future champions.”
