Cummins Inc. Announces New Product Offerings for Oil and Gas Market

    CALGARY, Alberta--June 11, 2002--Cummins Inc. announced today at the Global Petroleum Show the introduction of three new engine products for the oil and gas industry.
    The company introduced the KTA19GC, a new 420-horsepower (hp) driver for the natural gas compression market, along with two new frac rig ratings for the Cummins QST30 diesel engine.
    "Approximately one year ago, we announced our intent to bring the best in technology and customer support to the oil and gas industry," said Mark Levett, vice president and general manager of Cummins high-horsepower engine business. "Over the last 12 months, we have delivered new products and invested in dedicated people and support infrastructure. Today's announcement is further evidence that Cummins is in the oil and gas business for the long haul."
    The Cummins KTA19GC is a 420-hp, 19-liter displacement, rich-burn engine designed for well head, gathering and related gas compression applications. Cummins applied its experience with gas, industrial and power generation engines when designing world-class performance and reliability into this engine. It is available in a standard or catalyst rating and also offers a shielded CSA ignition as an option. The KTA19GC will be in limited production in the fourth quarter of 2002 after undergoing several thousand hours of performance and reliability testing. Rotary Gas Systems of Midland, Tex., and Twin Stars, Ltd of Farmington, N. Mex., are working closely with Cummins in field trials of the KTA19GC.
    Cummins also unveiled two frac ratings for its QST30 engine. The new 1350-hp and 1500-hp ratings are tailored specifically to meet the high power density and reliability requirements of frac applications. Available in the fourth quarter of 2002, these ratings extend the power reach of the versatile and dependable QST30 platform.
