Benny the Bomb Lights Up the Night at the Hardeeville Motor Speedway

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (May 25, 2002) - Benny "Boom Boom" Koske thrilled the
fans on Saturday night at the Hardeeville Motor Speedway as he "blew"
himself up in a full size car.  Koske emerged from the fiery wreck after
the explosion shaken but unscathed.  Tommy Porter of Savannah, GA picked up
his second consecutive win of the season over Shane Jenkins of Statesboro,
GA and Corey Fletcher from Bloomingdale, GA in the O.C. Welch
Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models.  Fourteen year old Andrew Smith of
Pooler, GA bested the field of 23 Legends Cars to pick up the win over
Kevin O'Brien from Burton, SC and Kevin Eves from Guyton, GA.

The Joker Joe's Truck Stop Street Stocks feature was won by Glenn Mappus of
Ridgeville, SC.  Don Dean of Sheldon, SC picked up the feature victory in
the Xtreme Stock Car feature event.  Johnny Brown of Bluffton, SC won the
Mini Stock feature over Stephen Moore from St. George, SC.  Tim Padgett of
Hardeeville, SC was the big winner in the Road Warrior division as he
picked up two wins out of three races.  Peter Frank, also of Hardeeville,
won the other Road Warrior feature.  

Next weekend, Saturday, June 15th, the American Challenge Series Late
Models will make their first ever appearance at the Hardeeville Motor
Speedway, along with the Legends Cars, Mini Stocks, Road Warriors and
Xtreme Stock Cars.  Gates open at 4:00 p.m., qualifying begins at 6:00 p.m.
followed by the National Anthem at 7:00 p.m.  General admission ticket
prices are $15.00 for adults; $10.00 for Juniors (ages 13-16), Seniors (55
and older) and Military (with proper I.D.); $5.00 for children (ages 6-12);
and children under 5 are free.  

The Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles south of I-95 (exit 5
in SC) on Highway 17 or just ten miles north of Savannah on Highway 17.
