Jim Fresard Pontiac/Buick Awarded GMC Truck Franchise And Purchases Gage Oldsmobile

ROYAL OAK, Mich., June 7 -- Doug Fresard, President of Jim Fresard Pontiac/Buick confirmed today that they have reached an agreement with General Motors to become the Detroit area's newest GMC Truck Franchise. "We are very pleased to add the GMC Truck product line up to our growing family of dealerships. We have a large order of GMC's being delivered today and we're looking forward to doing business at our new Ferndale location," Doug said. The Ferndale location is on the former site of Gage Oldsmobile at 21710 Woodward Ave. just a mile and a half south of I-696.

In a related move Doug Fresard also announced that they have taken over the operations of Gage Oldsmobile, effective Tuesday, June 4, 2002. They will continue to sell Oldsmobiles until the product is phased out in 2004. "I want to thank Tony Gage who worked with us to make sure that the Oldsmobile product will continue to be offered at his former dealership. We want to assure all of his Oldsmobile customers that we will take care of their Sales and Service needs. We are looking forward to offering his past customers Oldsmobiles, GMC Trucks or any of our Pontiac, Buick, Suzuki or Daewoo products," Doug reported.

Doug stated that what might appear to be an unusual move of buying a franchise that is going out of business is really a very good move for his company. "Oldsmobile sales have been strong and enjoy a very high level of loyalty. We will be able to continue with Oldsmobile while we build our GMC franchise. We have picked up a premier location on Woodward Ave. With the revitalization of Ferndale and the surrounding communities we are very optimistic about the future of the Jim Fresard Dealerships and General Motors' products."
