ZETEC CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCES CHASSIS FREEZE
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. (June 5, 2002) – The Formula Ford 2000 Zetec
Championship today announced that a chassis freeze and cost cap will be
instituted for the 2003 season.
Beginning with the season-opener in 2003, all Formula 2000 chassis designs
competing in the Zetec Championship will be frozen for three years. An
option to extend the chassis freeze for an extra two years has also been put
in place. The chassis freeze will add value and assist in the reduction of
escalating costs in racing.
In a further effort to control costs, the Zetec Championship has put in
place a cost cap on all chassis’ competing in the championship. All chassis
manufacturers will be required to meet the guidelines set by the
championship.
Further information about the chassis freeze and cost cap is available by
contacting Jon Baytos at (727) 522-7544.
The 2002 Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship continues with Round Eight at
the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, June 29, as part of the American Le Mans at
Mid-Ohio weekend.
