Jimmy Fennig Wins IRWIN Crew Chief of the Week
> VERNON HILLS, Ill., June 4, 2002 - After posting a strong time in his first qualifying lap for last weekend> '> s MBNA Platinum 400, Kurt Busch and the No. 97 Rubbermaid team suffered a bit of bad luck when the car got loose and hit the wall during the second qualifying lap. As a result of NASCAR> '> s "one-engine rule,> "> the team was forced to abandon its fifth-place starting position and begin at the back of the field. Despite this setback, the team> '> s crew chief, Jimmy Fennig, was confident that they had a car capable enough to post a strong finish and be a top competitor in the race. Busch managed to overcome being two laps down midway through the race and gain a total of 31 track positions to cross the finish line in 12th position, helping earn Fennig his second "IRWIN Rough to Finish Award" of the season.
