Dowler secures another top 10 finish, at St-Eustache
Ford Quality Care Taurus pilot sits ninth after three CASCAR Super Series races

MONTREAL, QC - The third CASCAR Super Series race of the season took place
Saturday night at Montreal's Autodrome St-Eustache. And for the second week
in a row, rain played havoc with the event. Ford Quality Care Service /
EMCO Taurus driver Kevin Dowler lined up 13th in the field of 30 for the
start of the 150 lap race and was able to pass several cars in the early going.
A downpour, a handful of laps shy of lap 100, brought out the caution flag
while Dowler was running in ninth-place. When it was clear that the rain
would continue, the race was deemed 'official' and the Albertan was
rewarded with his second ninth-place finish in as many weeks. Keeping with
the 'nine' theme, Dowler sits ninth in the CASCAR Super Series point
standings following the completion of the first quarter of the 12-event,
2002 racing schedule.
"We got by a couple of cars near the start; we were coming forward with
Kerry Micks," said Dowler, describing his race as the rain continued to
fall, after the event. "But it's just such a difficult track to pass at. It
was 'follow the leader'." Prior to the race weekend, Dowler had commented
that he found the flat, 4/10-mile 'egg-shaped' track to be one of the most
challenging on the entire circuit. "This is a beautiful facility, but it
just needs a little bit of grip," said Dowler.
Following three Super Series races with his crew, Dowler continues to be
very happy with the way the team is coming together. "I'm really pleased
with the way our team is working. Bill Burns and John Kramps are doing a
terrific job together."

RACE SUMMARY: Ford Fast Lane Taurus driver Dave Whitlock started on the
pole at Autodrome St-Eustache. Following a two-lap, side-by-side battle
with Don Thomson, Whitlock emerged with the lead and led comfortably until
the rain started on lap 94. After just three laps of slowly circling the
track, the race was red-flagged and Whitlock was declared the winner. Pete
Vanderwyst and Peter Gibbons were running second and third, respectively,
just prior to the final caution, when they were involved in an accident,
caused by the wet conditions. Their misfortune brought Don Thomson (second)
and series points leader DJ Kennington (third) onto the podium.

NEXT RACE: The next event for the Ford Quality Care / EMCO Taurus team is
the June 15-16 road course race at Mosport Int'l Raceway. "I'm really
excited about heading to Mosport," said Dowler. "With the cars and motors
we have, we're in excellent shape. We're going to go tear up the road
course at Mosport this week, doing some practice. I'm really excited about
getting into my forte."
Dowler was 16th on the Mosport road course in 2001. With victories at the
Molson Indy Toronto and at the former National event in Edmonton to his
credit, Dowler is looking to add a win on the legendary Mosport circuit to
his racing resume.
