Payless Car Rental Supports Agencies with Commissions and Technology

    Business Editors/Travel & Automotive Writers

	   ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--June 4, 2002--In response
to the recent moves from several major car rental companies to
eliminate travel agency commissions on negotiated corporate and
government rates, Payless Car Rental System, Inc. has remained
steadfast in its support to the travel agency community. Payless Car
Rental, an Avalon Global Group, Inc. company, announced they will
continue a commission-based compensation program for travel agencies,
as well provide the highest level of connectivity with Direct Connect
Availability.
"Payless embraces the travel agency community which has been so
loyal and helpful in contributing to our success during the past 30
years," said Michael Harley, president and chief operating officer,
Payless Car Rental System, Inc. "We understand that with the evolution
of the industry to Internet use, customers are moving in that
direction for reservations, but we plan to maintain a solid working
relationship with the people who have been there for us through the
years."
Direct Connect Availability guarantees that the travel
professional receives the most up-to-the-minute rate information for
all Payless Car Rental requests. With seamless connectivity, agencies
can quickly and easily shop Payless' availability rates and corporate
travel programs. All Sabre connected travel agents worldwide have
immediate access to the Payless fleet in the Americas, Europe, Africa
and Asia Pacific.
¶ The commission program coupled with the Direct Connect
Availability makes Payless Car Rental attractive to travel agencies.
Even with the 10 percent commission rate to travel agencies included,
Payless Car Rental offers such competitive rates that customers are
still able to book some of the best deals anywhere on a rental car
through their preferred travel agent.
Payless Car Rental will also maintain travel agency commissions on
all leisure travel bookings, as well as for the Corporate Account
Program and Passport Club Program which offer customers an additional
5 percent off the lowest applicable rate. Payless Car Rental will
continue to monitor their commission structure through 2002 and will
evaluate again in 2003.
