Subaru Reports May 2002 Sales

CHERRY HILL, N.J., June 3 -- Subaru of America, Inc., a pioneer of crossover all-wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, announced today sales results for May. Subaru recorded a total of 15,963 unit sales for the month, about even from last year's total of 16,041 units for the same period.

Sales of Subaru Impreza and Impreza WRX models maintained their strong sales momentum, establishing a new May record of 3,416 units sold. The Impreza total represents a 7 percent increase from May 2001. Subaru Legacy accounted for 7,812 units for the month compared to 7,848 units sold during May of last year. Subaru Outback recorded a total of 5,188 units for the month, down from last year's total of 5,750 units for the comparable period. Subaru Forester achieved a total of 4,735 units for the month and volume is expected to rise with the introduction of the all-new 2003 Forester at Subaru dealerships.
