Catalytic Solutions, Inc. Receives Supplier Award for R&D Excellence From Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
OXNARD, Calif.--June 3, 2002--Catalytic Solutions, Inc. (CSI) has been awarded the "Gratitude Award for Excellency in Research and Development" for 2002 by Honda Motor Co. The President and CEO of Honda Motor Company, Mr. Hiroyuki Yoshino, announced the award during an official ceremony held during Honda's New Year reception in Japan. Catalytic Solutions developed the advanced catalytic coating technology, Mixed Phase Catalyst (MPC(TM)), that enables auto manufacturers to meet increasingly stringent emission standards while providing dramatic cost reductions by utilizing 50-80% less precious metals than conventional catalytic coating technology.During a special award ceremony at CSI, Mr. Tsuneo Tanai, Senior Vice President/General Manager of Honda R&D Americas, Inc., stated, "In early testing, everyone at Honda was very impressed by the great performance of the CSI product. Honda realized the huge potential which this technology promised." In his concluding remarks, as he presented the award to Dr. Steve Golden, CSI's Chairman and Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Tanai added, "On behalf of Honda, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone at CSI."

Honda has been evaluating the performance and benefits of CSI's technology since 1999. CSI began mass production for the Japan release of Honda's "Step-Wagon" in December 2000. Production for two additional vehicle programs was launched in 2001. Honda plans to expand their application of CSI's technology to more of their vehicles on a global basis.
CSI was also chosen by Honda to be a participant in the "Excellent Supplier Zone" in Japan. The display began in November 2001 and will be present at Honda's Global Plaza through November 2002.
