Oshkosh Truck Introduces New McNeilus StreetForce Line of Refuse Bodies; Four new models complement industry-leading refuse line-up

OSHKOSH, Wis.--May 31, 2002--McNeilus(R) Companies Inc., a subsidiary of Oshkosh Truck Corporation , has developed four new refuse bodies as its new StreetForce(TM) line. The StreetForce line features models ranging from 10 to 31 cubic yard capacities, in a variety of configurations to expand McNeilus' successful line of refuse truck bodies.
McNeilus introduced all four new StreetForce models at Waste Expo 2002, May 20-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
"Four StreetForce models expand the McNeilus product line considerably, providing tough, maneuverable refuse trucks that give our customers more choices," said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "In addition, one of the models - a compact rear end loader - represents our first effort to share technology between our European and U.S. refuse operations. The StreetForce rear end loader is based on design technology from our Norba brand and is brought to our U.S. customers as part of North America's market-leading McNeilus brand."

    The StreetForce model line includes:

-- Rear End Loader: The StreetForce rear end loader is highly
maneuverable and moves easily into tight spaces. This rear
loader is lightweight, yet strong, thanks to body construction
consisting of arched side, roof and floor. High-tension,
Swedish Hardox(TM) steel provides extra strength in areas such
as the hopper floor plate. Less weight allows the vehicle to
carry more payload, increasing efficiency on every trip.
-- Manual/Automated Side Loader: The Street Force manual /
automated side loader offers haulers the flexibility to pick
up manual, semi-automated, or fully automated routes - even in
tight areas. And, it is able to function as an automated
trainer. It is available in capacities ranging from 20 to 31
        cubic yards.
-- Automated Side Loader: The ALLCAN(TM) Grabber arm, on the
StreetForce automated side loader, picks up containers from 30
to 300 gallons without slipping or crushing. Three body sizes
up to 26 cubic yards are available. Thanks to a tandem-gear
hydraulic pump, all functions, including the packing arm,
tailgate and ALLCAN Grabber, can be operated while the truck
is at idle, minimizing noise levels and lowering fuel
        consumption.
-- Automated Full Eject Side Loader: The StreetForce AFE side
loader was engineered with ideal body weight distribution, so
it's able to carry large capacities - up to 31 cubic yards. At
landfills, the full-eject feature provides extra stability by
ejecting waste without having to raise the body of the truck.
All models, except the rear loader, feature remote diagnostics
to speed service by allowing long-distance troubleshooting,
        via modem connection.
