Pre-Practice Notes at Milwaukee
- In pre-event testing on Wednesday, the top-five cars were all within 0.200
second.
- The fastest time on Wednesday was posted by No. 14 Jon Groom, with a time
of 28.371.
- No. 11 Rubenzer, who suffered an engine failure at Mosport, missed
Wednesday’s test session as the engine was being reinstalled in the car.
- Midway through the three-hour testing session on Thursday, No. 5 Imery
spun in turn two. Imery did not make any contact and continued.
- Late in the Thursday test session, No. 24 McIntosh spun in turn two making
contact with the
outside wall. McIntosh was unharmed, but the car suffered damage to the left
front and rear
suspension.
- No. 32 Aschenbach did not take part in the Thursday test session.
Aschenbach was attending the funeral of the gentleman who introduced
Aschenbach to CART team owner Gerry Forsythe, who sponsors Aschenbach.
- No. 85 Irving used the last part of the Thursday test session to scrub in
some tires for his
teammate No. 32.
- No. 14 missed over an hour of the Thursday test session battling starter
problems.
- Top -eight cars in Thursday test session were all within 0.300 second.
- No. 24 posted the fastest time on Thursday, with a time of 28.305
