Phillip F. Whalen, Jr. Named President and CEO of OnStation Corporation
SAN FRANCISCO, May 30 -- OnStation Corporation, provider of partner and customer relationship management software for the automotive industry, today announced that Phillip F. Whalen, Jr. has been named president and chief executive officer. Whalen is a seasoned Silicon Valley executive with more than 20 years of experience in growing enterprise business software companies.
Dr. Ronald E. Goldsberry, chairman of OnStation Corporation, described the signing of the seasoned technology executive as a milestone in the growth of OnStation, which is gearing up for new releases of its enterprise software at major customer sites including AAA and Genuine Parts Company (NAPA). OnStation connects enterprises, channel partners, and customers using a common web-based software platform, bringing many of the interactions between repair facilities and customers online. Using OnStation software, enterprises can maximize their customer relationships and deliver services through a network of channel partners more effectively and profitably.
Whalen has held executive management positions in the software industry since 1985. He was most recently with E*OFFERING, E*TRADE's online investment banking venture, where he led the company's marketing, Internet, and services initiatives. During his tenure, Whalen helped spur a turnaround and subsequent acquisition by Wit SoundView, a New York investment bank. Prior to E*OFFERING, Whalen was a full-time executive consultant serving as vice president of sales and corporate marketing at ShareData, the leading provider of equity compensation software. His efforts at ShareData contributed to the company's acquisition by E*TRADE, where he subsequently continued in the same capacity.
Whalen's accomplishments include serving as the original vice president of sales and marketing at cc:Mail, Inc., which at its height had more than 20 million users and at one point was ranked as one of the top 10 fastest growing software companies. Following cc:Mail, Whalen served in a series of executive management roles where he enabled software companies to achieve rapid growth and major product recognition. He holds a BA in Chemistry from Denison University, an MA from Webster University, and an MBA from Stanford University.
"Phillip Whalen's appointment is a significant landmark for OnStation Corporation," said Goldsberry. "His outstanding track record of leading software development teams in delivering industry-leading solutions, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, and enacting effective marketing strategies speaks for itself. With Phillip at the helm, OnStation looks forward to an exciting period of steady, sustained achievement and growth."
"For the last four years, I have focused specifically on helping companies like OnStation advance to the next level," said Whalen. "Our goal at OnStation is to build award-winning software for our customers that leads to rapid growth and industry leadership. We are already making great strides toward achieving that aim."
Whalen replaces Goldsberry, who was interim CEO after the departure of Charles L. Moore, the company's founder. "As OnStation's founder, it has been extremely rewarding for me to see our vision for a web-native suite of enterprise class software tools delivered to some of the leading companies in the automotive service industry. Equally rewarding has been the opportunity to work with a terrific group of people, including OnStation's customers, investors, and employees. I look forward to seeing Mr. Whalen take the company to the next level of success," said Moore.
