Pep Boys Acts as Certified Collection Center

PHILADELPHIA--May 30, 2002--All Pep Boys California stores continue to accept used oil for recycling as part of the California Integrated Waste Management Board's Used Oil Recycling Program.
"Pep Boys first began involvement with the Used Oil Recycling program in 1997," said Bill Furtkevic, director of marketing communications for Pep Boys. "We're pleased to provide safe and convenient locations for California motorists to drop off their used lubricating oil for the purpose of recycling."
Motorists who would like to recycle their used oil should bring it into one of the many Pep Boys collection centers. They will need to inform store personnel that they have uncontaminated used oil to drop off for recycling. Individual containers must be no larger than five gallons and there is a 20-gallon per person, per day limit. Each person offering uncontaminated oil is entitled to receive a recycling incentive equal to $0.16 per gallon.
Pep Boys operates 629 stores and over 6,500 service bays in 36 states and Puerto Rico. The company operates 135 stores in California. Customers can find the nearest location by calling 1-800-PEP-BOYS or by visiting pepboys.com.
Those who would like more information about the Used Oil Recycling Program should contact the California Integrated Waste Management Board at 1-916-341-6457 or visit their website at www.ciwmb.ca.gov/usedoil.
