For Immediate Release
GREENVILLE, SC (May 24, 2002) - USAR Pro Cup Driver, John Kinder to host
winners of CBS SportsLine.comâ™s Fantasy Racing 2001.
John Kinder, known to many as "Mr. Polite" will be hosting some very special
guests to upcoming USAR Pro Cup races, June 1, in Lakeland, FL, June 15, in
Myrtle Beach, SC and again on October 19, in Myrtle Beach, SC. The special
guests are all winners of CBS SportsLine.comâ™s Fantasy Racing 2001 Challenge,
which was held during the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Season.
The prize for each of the three winners in CBS SportsLine.comâ™s Fantasy
Racing 2001 Challenge is an opportunity to attend a USAR ProCup race, and be
an honorary member of the John Kinder, PowerBase Motorsports, Inc. #08 team.
The three winners who are eligible, along with the guest of their choice, to
join the team for a day are:
James & Tyler Byington of Roy, Utah, who will be attending the June 1 event
in Lakeland, FL;
Kendall & Lela Patterson of Sevierville, Tennessee, who will get to be part
of the action at the June 15 race in Myrtle Beach, SC; and
Mike & Barbara Murawa of Grandville, Michigan, who get the final honors at
the October 19 race again in Myrtle Beach, SC.
All winners will receive complimentary transportation, lodging and admission
to the garage area for the USAR event. One member of each group also will
serve as an honorary member of the crew and be assigned to participate in
actual pit crew duties during the race.
"We are very excited to have been selected to serve as the prize for each of
the winners and we look forward to giving them a day at the races they will
remember for years. We plan to let each winner experience what it is like to
serve on a crew, and I am sure by the time the race is over, they, like all
my crew members and me, will be ready for bed!" said John Kinder, driver of
the #08 car that is searching for a primary sponsor.
"Many race fans, donâ™t appreciate all the work that goes into preparing and
racing a stock car. The experience each of the winners will have, thanks to
CBS SportsLine.com, will not only give them a new perspective about our
sport, but will enable them to experience what goes on up front and personal.
Although the team has to arrive at the track by 8 AM on race day, our guests
will be able to sleep in and will arrive about 9 AM, but they will be there
for the entire event and this makes for a long day. We generally leave the
track about 11:00 PM. I really look forward to not only working with the
winners, but to have an opportunity to entertain them and talk about the USAR
Series and short track racing," John said.
"CBS SportsLine.com is committed to developing creative awards that our loyal
site visitors will remember for years to come. Being able to provide unique
experiences beyond just event tickets, in this case to actually be part of
the action on race day, is much more rewarding. Thanks to John Kinder and
his entire PowerBase Motorsports, USAR Pro Cup team this became possible. We
are sure each of our winners will have a great time and will learn more about
what goes on behind the scenes at the races. It is a great way to introduce
them to Americaâ™s best short track series," said Don Silvestri, Senior
Manager of Membership Programs for CBS SportsLine.com. "Working with John and
his team is a real pleasure; they are very professional and extremely
marketing oriented. We view this as a winning program for everyone involved
and we are proud to be associated with John and his team." Silvestri said.
