RAM JET 350 ENGINE - SHOWCASE THE NOSTALGIA OF THE 1950'S
Hot rod enthusiasts with a thirst for power will get their fix from the Ram Jet 350's Vortec-cylinder-head crate engine which generates 350 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 400 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3500 rpm.
The factory fuel injection Ram Jet 350 engine will be on display in a 1991 Chevrolet Camaro during the tour. Thanks to the engineering assistance of GM Powertrain, the Ram Jet 350 reflects a modern twist on the Ram Jet engines of the 1950's. The new electronic fuel-injected Ram Jets feature the state-of-the-art MEFI 4 controller that delivers all the benefits of modern electronic engine management, including ideal air-to-fuel ratios, exceptional throttle response, no stalling, great hot and cold starts, and increased torque throughout the operating range.
"The new Ram Jet engine captures the nostalgia of the classic 1950's Ram Jets, yet deliver the power and performance that can only be obtained using today's most advanced technology," said Bill Fitzgerald, GM Performance Parts manager.
GM PERFORMANCE PARTS QUADCAM SUPERCHARGER KIT
GM Performance Parts, long recognized as the leader in aftermarket performance V8 engines and components, has focused its attention on the booming front wheel drive market. The first of many specialized performance packages in development for front-wheel-drive racing and street performance enthusiasts is a supercharger kit for the QuadCam 2.4L engine, available for both the Cavalier and Sunfire.
"This package gives Cavalier and Sunfire owners amazing V-8-like performance at a fraction of the cost," Fitzgerald said. The venerable Roots-type Eaton Series 45 supercharger provides engine boost across the entire RPM brand, transforming the standard QuadCam into an import-eating thrill ride. The supercharger kit will be featured in a Pontiac Sunfire during the Hot Rod Power Tour.
HT 383 DELIVERS GREAT TRUCK POWER
Specially tuned for torque, the all-new HT 383 delivers great truck power in a small block package for your truck or street rod. With its 3.80 inch stroke and Vortec cylinder heads, the HT 383 makes awesome torque, down low where you need it for towing or four wheeling off road. Peak torque is 435 lb.-ft. at 4000 rpm with 340 horsepower at 4500 rpm. Developed with a roller cam, special heavy- duty forged powdered metal connecting rods, "4340" forged crankshaft and hypereutectic pistons, the HT 383 is designed to be worked. The HT 383 is an ideal replacement for any 1977 and older carbureted engine or off road application. The engine will be displayed in a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe during the tour.
