Pre-Qualifying Notes at Indianapolis
- Friday testing was cut short by one hour due to heavy rain.
- No. 85 irving has switched from an Elite engine to a Quicksilver
RacEngines engine for the
remainder of the year.
- No. 16 Perona missed testing on Friday with engine problems. The crew has
borrowed an engine from Walko racing for the weekend and has installed it in
time for Perona to take part in the practice session.
- No. 9 Kasemets crashed exiting turn two late in testing on Friday. The car
suffered damage to the left side, but was repaired prior to practice on
Saturday.
- No. 5 Imery made heavy contact with the wall in turn two in testing. The
car suffered extensive damage to the left side and rear wing. The crew
repaired the car Friday evening and Imery took part in the practice session
on Saturday morning.
- No. 32 Aschenbach made contact with wall entering turn four in testing.
The car suffered damage to the left rear corner, which was repaired in time
for the practice session.
- No. 2 Sellers battled a tire problem early in testing.
- No. 4 May has switched to No. 13 following testing. This is May’s first
start since 1997. His only win was at IRP in 1996.
- Numerous cars reported battling a “push” during testing on Friday.
- No. 29 West spun late in the practice session in turn four. West did not
make contact with anything and returned to the pitlane.
