Woodside Takes Top Five At Pikes Peak, Narrows Gap To First In Points

May 23, 2002 (Saugus, Calif.) - Sean Woodside finished in fifth place in
last Saturday's Southwest Series "100" at Pikes Peak International Raceway
in Fountain, Colo., closing the gap between his current second place and the
lead in the 2002 Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring championship
points race to just two points.

Woodside entered Saturday's event in second-place in the points with the
strength of three top-five finishes in four attempts at the one-mile oval
behind him.

He started the 100-lap race from a 28th-place qualifying position, but
patiently worked his way toward the lead pack. On the final lap, Woodside
successfully chased down and passed Rick Carelli to cross the line in
fifth-place.

"Mike Harvick and the guys did a fantastic job of getting the car set up for
race day," Woodside commented. "We struggled a little in practice and
qualifying, but they put their heads together and gave me a strong car. I
really appreciate all their hard work."

Woodside's next appearance will be at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway on June
8th where he will attempt to not only win, but also overtake the Southwest
Series points lead.
