Buick Partners With One Of The Fastest Growing Team Sports In The CountryPURCHASE, N.Y.- The Buick Motor Division has announced a one-year partnership with sporting equipment manufacturer Brine to have the 2002 Buick Rendezvous serve as the Official Vehicle of Brine at over 50 lacrosse camps, tournaments, clinics and jamborees in the Northeast.
"Buick is proud to partner with a first class organization like Brine," said Kurt McNeil, regional marketing manager for Buick. "The Buick Rendezvous was developed for today's active families and we are excited to join Brine in helping educate kids in the fast-growing sport of lacrosse."
"We are extremely enthused and proud to include Buick and its exciting new sport utility vehicle, the Rendezvous, as a key sponsor of our lacrosse category's 2002 Summer Camp and Jamboree Tour," said Sean Fox, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Brine. "The Rendezvous' forward thinking, versatile design, engineering, and premium positioning align nicely with our market approach. As well, our respective brands' uncompromising commitment to excellence and market leadership in product innovation, quality, and reliability make for a perfect partnership."
Buick's onsite presence will feature the Buick Fastest Shot Competition where kids of all ages will compete for prizes based on their skill level and speed of their shots. The Buick Fastest Shot Competition will be present at the over 50 lacrosse camps and events Buick will be attending this summer.
Among the many lacrosse events Buick will partner with Brine include: 2002 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships, New Brunswick, NJ, Bilderback Day, Annapolis, MD, Massachusetts Bay Lax Jamboree, Devins, MA, New Hampshire Lacrosse Jamboree, Amherst, NH, Brine Upstate Lacrosse League, Syracuse, NY, Long Island Jamboree, Farmingdale, NY, 1812 Lacrosse Shootout, Sackets Harbor, NY and Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament, Lake Placid, NY.
In addition to participating in lacrosse events in the Northeast, Buick will also partner with Brine at over 100 additional lacrosse events across the nation as well as approximately 150 Brine sponsored soccer camps, tournaments and clinics nationwide.
The 2002 Rendezvous, Buick's exciting entry in the booming truck market, combines many of the best features of sport utility vehicles, premium sedans and minivans. The Rendezvous is a new breed of sport utility that goes beyond the usual vehicle categories because it brings together the best of all worlds - in terms of versatility, security and comfort. Unlike traditional SUVs of about the same size, Rendezvous offers seven-passenger seating with its optional - and comfortable - third row of seats.
Rendezvous' launch year sales continue strong, with 20,947 sales from January through April 2002. This puts Rendezvous second in its segment, far outpacing the Mercedes M Class, Acura MDX and BMW X5. As consumers become more aware of Rendezvous and its capabilities, Buick dealers are reporting that younger, more affluent buyers are purchasing the vehicle. The most recent buyer data indicates that Rendezvous buyers are an average of 14 years younger than traditional Buick customers are.
