Pirret Appointed VP Lubricants, Shell Oil Products US
HOUSTON, May 21 -- David Pirret, currently executive vice president global businesses, Shell International Petroleum Company Ltd., will become vice president lubricants, Shell Oil Products US, effective June 1, 2002, and report to Rob J. Routs, CEO of Shell Oil Products US.
In his new position Pirret will lead Shell's team in the planning process to combine the Shell and Pennzoil-Quaker State Company businesses, subject to Pennzoil-Quaker State shareholder, regulatory and other approvals. Completion of the transaction is anticipated in the second half of 2002.
Pirret will lead the new business once the deal is approved and completed, including the transition to a global structure. Given the growing importance of lubricants to the Shell family of companies, Shell has decided to develop a global lubricants business structure by January 2004 along similar lines to the successful Shell models already established in aviation, marine products and LPG. He will be accountable to the Oil Products CEO and Royal Dutch/Shell Group Managing Director, Paul Skinner, for management of this transition.
Pirret joined Shell in 1974 and has held several sales, marketing and leadership roles with Shell Chemicals, Shell Cyprus Trading Co. Ltd., Shell Lubricants, Shell Brasil SA, Shell UK Ltd, and Shell International Petroleum Ltd. He is the former Managing Director of Shell Lubricants UK, and brings extensive oil products retail experience to the role.
