RV Parks and Campgrounds Are Open for Summer Fun!

FALLS CHURCH, Va., May 21 -- With Memorial Day Weekend just around the corner, the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) is encouraging Americans to take advantage of long weekends to reconnect with family and friends. All ARVC member RV parks and campgrounds in the United States and Canada are open for visitors planning summer getaways. These RV parks and campgrounds are privately owned and provide a wide variety of lodging options and amenities to visitors, including Internet access, supervised recreation, swimming pools, park stores, and facilities for pets, among others.

In addition to facilities for RVs, many parks provide tenting facilities, on-site cabins, trailer, and park trailer rentals. One of the easiest ways to obtain information about ARVC parks in all 50 states and Canada is on the ARVC website at www.GoCampingAmerica.com .

"This is a great time for families, couples, retirees, and single parents to vacation together," said ARVC president Linda Profaizer. "Our lives have become so hectic that it's important to make the most of the time we spend with our loved ones. Our parks and campgrounds provide a great opportunity for friends and family to reconnect and make new memories together. With spectacular scenery and plenty of activities -- from camping and hiking to boating, fishing, biking, horseback riding, golfing, and tennis, etc. -- our parks offer something for everyone!"

Outdoor recreation and visits to RV parks and campgrounds were among the top activities for U.S. travelers taking leisure trips, according to the 2001 Domestic Travel Market Report. It is anticipated Americans plan to vacation closer to home this summer, with RV parks and campgrounds a popular vacation destination.

Reservations have been running ahead of last year, with ARVC member RV parks and campgrounds reporting 7% to 14% increases over last year. Some parks have enjoyed a 45% increase, primarily on the east coast.

The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) represents more than 3,600 commercial RV parks and campgrounds throughout the U.S. and Canada. ARVC is located in Falls Church, Virginia.
