Mitsubishi Electric Recieves 2001 Honda Supplier Award

    MASON, Ohio--May 20, 2002--Honda executives will visit Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America's (MEAA) Mason, Ohio headquarters and manufacturing plant Tuesday, May 21 at 9 a.m. to personally present employees with their 2001 supplier award.
    Mitsubishi Electric is one of only seven companies to receive the double award for quality and delivery out of approximately 500 domestic Honda suppliers. This is the second year MEAA has won both designations.
    Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America manufactures 400,000 alternators a year for the Honda Civic. The alternators are shipped to Honda of America Mfg.'s engine plant at Anna, Ohio, where they are assembled onto the engines before moving to Honda's East Liberty plant for installation in the car.
    Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America also manufactures starters for the Honda Accord assembled at Honda of America's Marysville, Ohio auto plant.
    In 2001, Honda of America Mfg., Honda's largest manufacturing complex in North America -- 61630; purchased a record $7.6 billion in parts from 454 raw materials and original equipment manufacturers throughout North America. Out of this supplier base, 84 received awards for exceptional performance in the areas of quality, delivery and productivity improvement.

In addition, they met our delivery requirements for correct time, quantity and labeling," said Dane Daring, Honda of America Mfg., purchasing manager at the Anna engine plant. "We know it takes a dedicated team to make all these things come together. We congratulate Mitsubishi Electric on their outstanding achievement."
