COORS ORIGINAL DODGE MAKES EARLY EXIT IN THE WINSTON
Marlin caught in accident on lap 15; fails to complete remainder of race
 
CONCORD, N.C. (May 18, 2002) - Sterling Marlin placed 24th in The Winston at Lowe's Motor Speedway with the Coors Original Dodge Intrepid R/T.  
 
The Coors Original Dodge started the event in 14th position.  Marlin remained in the top-15 before he was involved in an accident on lap 15 that put the No. 40 Coors Original Dodge in the wall and ultimately out of the race.  Marlin was on the backstretch when the No. 22 of Ward Burton tapped his left rear sending the No. 40 Dodge into the wall and causing the No. 88, 2, and 55 cars to be caught in the accident as well. 
 
"I guess Ward (Burton) wanted to win more than we did," Marlin said following the accident.  "He just ran right into the back of us and turned us into the fence. It was a good car. It was car 115, and that's the car that won some races and had a bunch of top-5 finishes last year. We'll bring No. 203 back next week, and that's the Dodge we won with at Darlington. I don't know what Ward's problem was. I guess you'll have to ask him. We were minding our own business down the back straightaway and he just got against us and turned us head on into the fence. It was pretty uncalled for. We were a little loose on the start and then all of a sudden it started getting tight. We were going to pit. I had my hand out waving and I was still in the gas and Ward hit us in the rear."
 
The Coors Original Dodge was recorded with a 24th place finish.
