JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We were just trying to hold our own. I got back underneath Bobby Labonte, and I think the 31 or somebody got into him. Then Bobby got into me. I hate it. We had a good run going. I was real proud of the guys. We kept fighting back and coming back to the front. Our car was great in the Open, but we never got it back in The Winston. It never ran as good, but we had a good night overall. It's never an advantage to run the Winston Open. It's better to win a race and not have to run it. We had a lot of laps on the motor and had to run hard. A lot of guys had a worse night than we did. We came in here and ran pretty good, so I'm pretty happy with it."
FINAL SEGMENT
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"In this business, you just never know. When they inverted that deal, I felt like the thing laid down a little bit motor wise. It might have broken a valve spring or something. When I got ready to go, I couldn't run what they ran. We've just got to get better. We're going to talk about it and decide if we're going to bring the same car back for the 600. I know one thing, that 40 car won't bring his car back. You always learn stuff, but you know how this business is. Sometimes you hit it and sometimes you don't. We've just got to keep digging at it and make the changes we need. It's just whatever the fans want as far as the format goes. I don't care. It's going to run wherever we go, that's all I know."
