Can-Am 125GP Release

18 May 2002 Shannonville, Ontario Canada

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wright Grabs Pole In Round One Of The Diablo Paintball Can-Am125GP
Challenge

Dave Wright, who had been near the top of the time sheets all weekend, is
set to start on pole for tomorrows first round of the Diablo Paintball
Can-Am 126 GP Challenge. In doing so Wright broke the existing 125 track
record on the "Pro" track at Shannonville. Wright's pole time was
1:10.943

The pole time went back and forth between Wright, Jeff Chen, local ace
Corey Sherman and Honda Canada's Chris Peris. With about three minutes
remaining Wright got some clear track and was able to put in his quick
lap.

Honda Canada's Chris Peris had just put in his quick time when he lost the
front going into turn two. As he tried to save it, he went over some
curbing and into the infield, where the bike became covered in mud. The
infield is very soft with lots of sanding water due to significant
rainfall in the past week.

Corey Sherman had an adventuresome qualifying secession. Sherman went
down in turn two on cold tires. Sherman's off was low speed, he merely
bent his shifter and loosened his foot peg. After getting the bike back
on track and making a couple laps to make sure everything was good,
Sherman came into the pits to tighten up his foot peg. The next lap was
Sherman's quickest, landing him third on the grid.

Dark Horse Racing's Jeff Chen rounded out the front row. Chen who had
been on top of the charts in morning practice didn't quite have enough in
qualifying, but was happy to be on the front row.

QUOTES:

Dave Wright 1:10.943 I was late getting out, but I hooked up with
[Jeff] Chen. I rode with him for a couple laps, but then got by him on
the back straight. Once I was around him, I had some clear track and was
able to put in a couple good laps. The track was really good out there
today, but tomorrow's final is going to be tough, there's five or six of
us that I think have a shot to win.

Chris Peris 1:11.195 I was going really good out there. I hadn't had a
lot of practice. This morning I was out there and the bike was handling
funny. Turns out we only had 18lbs of air in the front. The bike is
good, I just need a little more time on the bike, the race tomorrow should
be good.

Corey Sherman 1:11.341 That crash on my out lap was cold tires, I guess
I'm going to have to get a set of those tire warmers from John Bickle, eh?
After I came in to tighten up my foot peg, I was really fired up, that's
when I put in my quick lap. I'm really pumped for tomorrows race, it
should be exciting.
