Visteon to Supply Dearborn Car Maker

DEARBORN, Mich., May 17 -- Visteon Corporation is pleased to announce it will supply Ford Motor Company front-end integrated assemblies, cockpit systems, fuel storage systems and climate systems for two 2004 high-volume vehicle programs. The vehicles will be built at Ford's Chicago Assembly plant.

Ford officially unveiled its production systems at the Chicago Manufacturing Campus yesterday. The Chicago Manufacturing Campus is a new automotive supplier facility located less than one mile from Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant. It will play a vital role in the delivery of integrated assemblies and sequenced parts to the plant.

"We're pleased to support the manufacturing campus project," said Jim Orchard, Visteon President, North America and Asia. "Visteon's systems and manufacturing innovations will save Ford time and money while helping to differentiate their brands to consumers." Among the benefits to Ford are: a single supplier interface; a reduction in weight, cost and product complexity; improved serviceability; more flexible packaging, and better fit and finish.

Visteon's front-end assemblies will integrate structural, cooling and electrical content into its front-end module. Similarly, Visteon's cockpit system incorporates plastics, vehicle structure, electronics, steering and climate systems. The integrated cockpit package is designed and engineered to deliver the craftsmanship, style, safety and security, and convenience that consumers demand.

The Visteon fuel storage system gives Ford packaging flexibility with improved crash, durability, and safety characteristics. In addition, Visteon's system costs less than competitive systems. The reduced number of parts makes the vehicle easier to build.

Visteon's climate system provides fully integrated heating, air conditioning and powertrain cooling. In addition to engineering, manufacturing and delivering thermal systems, Visteon validates their design and performance within vehicles. The result is a fully integrated thermal management system from one reliable source.

"This opportunity to support Ford Motor Company on such an important and large-scale project showcases our systems integration strength and project management expertise," said Orchard. "Most important, it illustrates a driving commitment to our customer's success."
