Hollywood/Mo Nunn Racing teammates Tony Kanaan and Felipe Giaffone split
time in the #21T Hollywood/Mo Nunn Racing Chevrolet G-Force back-up car
during another rain-shortened practice session for the 86th Indianapolis 500
today.
Giaffone ran 36 laps to open today's on-track activity for the Hollywood/Mo
Nunn Racing team and reached a fast lap of 225.879 mph in 36 trips around
the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. His fast lap was fifth-best
today.
Kanaan took over for the latter part of the session and reached 224.610 mph
in 14 total practice laps. His fast lap was 13th-best today.
Greg Ray, who will hope to make the field during final "Bump Day" qualifying
on Sunday, logged the fastest lap of the day at 227.291 mph. Polesitter
Bruno Junqueira was second-fastest at 226.598 mph before damaging his car in
a pit-lane accident this afternoon. Ray's teammate, Airton Dare, who also
has yet to qualify for the May 26 main event, was third-fastest today at
226.484 mph.
There were two rain delays this afternoon for a total of 1 hour, 58 minutes.
Giaffone will start fourth and Kanaan fifth in the main event a week from
Sunday. Practice resumes Friday.
