Bad Luck Continues for Montgomery
Bad Luck Continues for Montgomery
CONCORD, NC. (May 16, 2002) - The black cloud is still hanging over the #27 Montgomery Motorsports team.
After turning one of the top five times during testing, the #27 team came to Lowe's Motor Speedway with high hopes.
During the morning practice, team driver Chase Montgomery got into the wall between Turns 3 and 4. Montgomery was taken to the infield care center for a precaution checkup. He escaped the wreck uninjured.
"There was a car leaking oil all over the track," Montgomery said. "By the time I saw it, it was too late."
The team will set up the backup car to run during the 5:30 p.m. practice. Montgomery will miss qualifying and will start in the back of the field since the team will change motors in the morning.
"It's disappointing," Montgomery said. "That is the car we were taking to Kansas in a few weeks. After our incident in Kentucky, we are running out of speedway cars. Let's hope we can steer clear of trouble for the rest of the weekend."
