Superior Industries Named General Motors Supplier of the Year For Second Straight Year

VAN NUYS, Calif.--May 16, 2002--"For the second consecutive year, we are proud to announce that Superior Industries International, Inc. has been named a General Motors Supplier of the Year," said Louis Borick, Chairman and President of Superior Industries. The award was presented during ceremonies on April 27th in Toronto.
"Superior Industries is an industry role model that through performance has set an example again this past year for other companies to follow," said Bo Andersson, vice president, GM Worldwide Purchasing Production Control & Logistics. "It is a pleasure to work with a company that excels at meeting our priorities for quality, service, technology and competitive pricing."
"It took a total team effort to win this prestigious award again this year," Borick said. "Our strong relationship with GM, one of our proudest and most important accomplishments, was underscored earlier this year with the award of several new and replacement aluminum wheel programs for multiple vehicle lines under Superior's unprecedented long term supply agreement with this important customer. This agreement is a milestone for Superior because it gives us the ability to work closely with General Motors on multiple vehicle lines for an extended period of time, which provides us with longer term stability and greater participation in the product design and manufacturing process.
"Over the years we have helped General Motors develop winning products that create a sense of passion in consumers around the world. We look forward to continuing to work closely with GM for many years to come," Borick added.
The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Award-winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 91 suppliers from 18 countries for their excellence throughout 2001.
