Catalytic Solutions Inc. Announce Business Relationship

    DEARBORN, Mich. & OXNARD, Calif.--May 16, 2002--Catalytic Solutions Inc. (CSI) and Ford Motor Company have reached an agreement to work together toward applying Catalytic Solutions' advanced catalytic coating technology in Ford vehicles.
    Additionally, Ford would gain an undisclosed equity position in Catalytic Solutions as the business relationship develops further. It is Ford's expectation that implementation of Catalytic Solutions' proprietary technology would help Ford to meet or exceed increasingly stringent emission standards and reduce precious metals content compared to current catalytic coating technology. Catalytic Solutions has developed the advanced catalytic coating technology, Mixed Phase Catalyst (MPC(TM)), to enable reductions in the use of platinum group metals.
