Chrysler Group Plans to Have Tech-Sharing Program
In Place by 2002 SEMA Show
DETROIT (May 15, 2002) - Chrysler Group (Chrysler, Jeep®, and Dodge) of
DaimlerChrysler will provide SEMA manufacturer members with technical
data about its high volume vehicles and newest engines in a three-
dimensional CD Tech-sharing Program to launch this fall.
Chrysler Group Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing Jim
Schroer announced the technology-sharing program at DaimlerChrysler Day
during the recent annual SEMA OEM Tech Talks in Detroit.
The program will enable SEMA manufacturing company members to develop
accessories for the newest and most popular Chrysler Group vehicles, and
assist the carmaker in delivering "the coolest vehicles on the road, with
quality as their foundation, a Chrysler Group goal," according to
Schroer.
"We, as manufacturers, can't provide all the products and accessories
people want to personalize vehicles to meet their individual needs. We
are engaging in this process to deliver on our promise to have SEMA
member companies work with us to develop new accessories. Besides, we
think we'll all have some fun doing it," Schroer said.
SEMA Executive Vice President Chris Kersting, in attendance at the sold-
out OEM Tech Talks, said, "It's exciting that our SEMA members will be
able to help Chrysler Group achieve its goal of providing the customized
vehicles that drivers want these days. The trend toward vehicle
personalization - where car and truck owners add accessories and products
to the vehicles which are delivered from the factory - is well-
established."
Schroer indicated the Chrysler Group Image Team, headed by Bob
Longstreth, will continue to work closely with SEMA to have the program
ready for delivery by the 2002 SEMA Show, which opens Tuesday, Nov. 5, in
Las Vegas.
