International Council on Systems Engineering Detroit/Tri-State Chapter to Host Model-Based Systems Engineering Expert May 15 at Troy Marriott Hotel
TROY, Mich.--May 9, 2002--The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), Detroit/Tri-State Chapter, will present Dr. Peter Hoffman, director and chief methodologist of I-Logix, based in Andover, Mass., at its Wednesday, May 15 meeting, at the Troy Marriott Hotel.Dr. Hoffman's presentation gives a state-of-the-art overview of model-based systems engineering using classical structured-based and object-oriented (UML) methods. Special focus is put on requirements traceability and model verification/validation thru model execution and formal methods.
"This meeting provides an opportunity to build a network of professional contacts of customers and suppliers around the automotive industry and other organizations practicing systems engineering," explained Neil Maguire, president of the INCOSE Detroit Tri-State Chapter.
"Systems Engineering disciplines are becoming increasingly important in the automotive industry and beyond due to the introduction of advanced technologies and the integration of mechanical, electrical, and software functionality," Maguire said. "The driver behind systems engineering is the need to meet ever shrinking product development cycle times for launching new vehicles and complex systems without compromising quality. Advanced engineering techniques are required to shift the emphasis from the costly and time-consuming build and test approach of product development to requirements definition/modeling and simulation of design solutions."
The International Council on Systems Engineering (www.incose.org) is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1990. INCOSE is an international authoritative body promoting the application of an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realization of successful systems. The Detroit Tri-State Area Chapter covers Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
