MOM'S DAY NASCAR RACES AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY BENEFIT CANCER CENTER

MOM'S DAY NASCAR RACES AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY WILL BENEFIT
CECILIA GONZALEZ De La HOYA CANCER CENTER – SAT. MAY 11

Irwindale, Calif. - - In honor of Mother's Day, May 12 part of the proceeds from the Saturday night NASCAR races at Irwindale Speedway will be donated to the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles.

All Irwindale racing fans have been sent fliers and e-mails letting them know that when they bring a copy of the flyer or a printed-out page from their e-mail and purchase a full price adult ticket ($15.00); the Speedway will, in turn, donate $5.00 to the hospital in support of its fight against breast cancer.

This is the second year in a row that Irwindale Speedway has named the Center as its Mother's Day beneficiary. “Using last year's contribution from the Speedway, over 150 women were able to receive screening at our facility,” said Steve Engle, Director of Cancer Services at White Memorial Hospital Medical Center. “Contributions like these can and do save lives, we're in a little different 'race', the one against this dreadful disease, but Irwindale Speedway's fans and their great generosity make our reach so much better.”

“We're very proud to be supporting this effort,” said track General Manager Robert DeFazio. “This is something that our fans have told us that they feel very strongly about, they're great people, they really respond this sort of call.”

Racing will begin at 7PM on Saturday night, with the track gates opening early at 4PM. Four divisions of action-packed racing will be on the “Half-Mile Super Speedway” lead off by the fast Automobile Club of Southern California Late Models. The Ultra Wheels Super Trucks, NASCAR Grand American Modifieds, and Modified 4's will also take to the track in search of season's points, trophies, and prize money. Fans may call (626) 358-1100 to secure tickets by phone or get them right at the gate on Saturday beginning at noon.

Fans are directed to the track's website (www.irwindalespeedway.com) which has full information about the facility and the upcoming races.
