“SPEEDWAY GRILL” NOW OPEN FOR BREAKFAST
& LUNCH AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY
Irwindale, Calif. - - Hey! How about a nice fresh flour tortilla, stuffed with fluffy scrambled eggs, golden hash browns, sweet peppers, onions, slathered with tangy chipotle sour cream and served wit a side of fresh salsa ... At 5:30AM on a Monday morning? At Irwindale Speedway? Yup! Irwindale's brand new Speedway Grill is now open to the public Monday through Friday from 5:30AM to 1:30PM for breakfast and right on through to lunch.
Located just inside the front gates of the Speedway on Live Oak Avenue, the “al fresco” dining operation is run by Twin Palms Management, where the same professional kitchens that supply all the great food for the Irwindale luxury suites and the special hospitality tents at each racing event.
As with the best road houses, breakfast and lunch (you can order lunch at 6:30 in the morning if it suites your mood) is served all day (until the eatery's 1:30PM closing time) and each order is cooked up fresh. Beef burritos, authentic biscuits and gravy, half-pound hamburgers, all-beef hot dogs, turkey, ham, and lean roast beef sandwiches, a house “signature” Italian sausage sandwich, BLT's, salads, all kinds of side orders, cold drinks, and great coffee, are all there on the made-to-your-order menu.
Reasonable prices, tasty entrées, and good portion size are the rule at the Speedway Grill where your luncheon entertainment just might include the sounds of a high-powered stock car testing over on the banked half-mile oval. And you never know who you might see at the next table over, a well-known racing driver, a famous racing promoter, a movie star waiting to do a commercial on the Speedway, your next-door neighbor, your chiropractor, or ...
Racing fans now have a reason to visit the Speedway almost any day of the week and get a great meal while their there. Oh, yeah, one inside tip on the cuisine: leave some room (or just order one with a cup of java) for the Cafe's stupendous cinnamon roll. This huge, flakey, spicy, soft, warm roll would be perfect just as it comes warm from the oven; but when the Twin Palms “touch” (a hot glaze that not too sweet, but oh so rich) is ladled over the top of this bun, all cautions (and calorie charts) are thrown to the wind. A cup of their aromatic coffee and ... well ... wow!
Having breakfast now has a new emphasis on the “fast” part as in what happens on the Drag Strip and Speedway, fans are invited to take a “break” when they're near the Speedway on a weekday morning, and enjoy some great food at one of the raciest restaurant in town!
