Metalinfo.com Introduces New I-Spec Service for One-Time Users
CHICAGO--May 7, 2002--Metalinfo.com, the Chicago company that has been the leading provider of informational technologies for the metals industry since 1988, has launched a new service that will enable companies of any size to get complete specifications on any metal standard in the world. Called I-Spec, the service is available to single-time users for a flat fee of $20.Utilizing its unique global metal-standard search engine, metalinfo.com surveys more than 140,000 global standards and grades of metals and can deliver complete material properties on a required standard. These properties include chemical, mechanical, physical, thermal and global cross-references. Until recently, metalinfo.com has provided its complete information database in a package to more than 2,300 regular customers on an annual subscription basis through online access or a CD. But the company has successfully customized its software so that it is now possible for anyone to go to the metalinfo.com and order detailed specifications on one particular metal.
"I-Spec is a major breakthrough for us," said Scott Swarm, president and CEO of metalinfo.com and Eagle International Software. "In the past, we only have been able to deliver information in bulk. While this service has worked well for larger companies and those needing frequent access to different specs, it has been impractical and, in some cases, too expensive for smaller companies and those with specific needs."
"We're always trying to upgrade our services, and we think this one should save people hours of time searching for information and prove to be a very affordable solution. We are not only delivering metal properties but critical global cross-references and metallurgical assistance if needed." said Swarm. "The benefit to us is that it will provide companies with an introduction to metalinfo and the many services we offer."
I-Spec is the second new service that metalinfo.com has been able to launch this year as a result of technological enhancements to its software. In March, the company announced that it was making MetalSearch(TM), its global metal-standard search engine, available at no charge to anyone visiting the metalinfo.com or our partner sites.
