FW: BMW WilliamsF1 Team - Valencia Test
30 April - 3 May 2002
Summary:
The BMW WilliamsF1 Team concluded a four-day test at the Valencia circuit
in Spain today ahead of the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix. The test was
conducted by Juan Pablo Montoya, and test team driver Antonio Pizzonia.
The weather conditions were generally good but with an exceptional downpour
on Thursday afternoon, the test team worked through an extensive programme
that focused on tyre work with Michelin, engine mapping and brake testing.
The BMW WilliamsF1 Team also ran a second car for aero testing in Danielson.
Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer WilliamsF1):
"At the Valencia test we concentrated on tyre testing and various
mechanical and aero components for upcoming races such as Monaco. We also
had some time to spend on wet and intermediate set-ups due to occasional
bad weather."
Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):
"For us it was a valuable and detailed four-day test. We learnt much
regarding the onward development of our BMW engine, but the main focus of
the test was chassis and tyre work."
