Motion Industries Receives New United Motor Manufacturing Excellence Award

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--May 3, 2002--The Hayward, Calif., location of Motion Industries, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company , was recently honored by the New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., automobile manufacturing plant for excellence in service and excellence in cost reduction during the year 2001.

    New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., or NUMMI, invited 240 suppliers to a conference held in March 2002 to recognize cost, quality and delivery excellence. Motion Industries vice president and general manager Russ Hosier accepted the award from NUMMI president Kanji Ishii, vice president of purchasing Rick Amano, and general manager of purchasing Linda McColgan.
    Of 45 suppliers cited by NUMMI for excellence, Motion Industries was the only bearing and power transmission distributor to receive an award for performance in 2001.
