Nissan Division Reports April Sales; Altima Ends the Month With Best April Ever

CARSON, Calif., May 1 -- Bolstered by strong April sales of its award-winning Altima, the Nissan Division reported its seventh consecutive month of year over year increase with sales of 53,431, a 10.2 percent increase versus year ago levels. The Altima, recently named "Best Premium Mid-size Sedan" in Auto Pacific's Vehicle Satisfaction survey, set an April record with 18,246 units, a 68.4 percent increase versus April 2001.

Sentra sales totaled 8,398 units, a 5 percent increase over last year. In the truck category, Pathfinder sales recorded 5,034 units, a 16.3 percent increase over the same period in 2001.

Other division highlights include Maxima, 7,904 units; Frontier, 6,143 units; Xterra, 6,098 units and Quest, 1,608 units.

Combined April sales for the Nissan and Infiniti divisions totaled 61,172 units, a 14.8 percent increase versus last year.

Sales of Nissan's North American produced vehicles for April totaled 40,493 units, which represents 63.5 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the United States.
