NEW YORK CHOOSES YAMAHA FOUR-STROKE PWC TO PATROL WATERWAYS

Dept. of Environmental Conservation Buys 14 Yamaha FX140s Citing State’s

“Clean Technology” Mandate for Vehicle Purchases

Kennesaw, GA —The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
purchased 14 Yamaha WaveRunner® FX140s, the world’s first four-stroke
watercraft, as part of their “Clean Vehicle” program to be used in the state
’s fleet to patrol state waterways and assist in water rescues.

New York State annually purchases a number of personal watercraft for use by
law enforcement personnel and other applications. New York is a recognized
leader in acquiring the cleanest vehicles available for use in its state
fleet and has established a “Clean Vehicle Advisory Council” to identify and
evaluate clean technology vehicles.

The Yamaha FX140 utilizes leading edge four-stroke technology that delivers
exceptional power per displacement, provides excellent fuel economy, and due
to its four-stroke design, produces low exhaust emissions.

The FX140 is more than 80% cleaner than conventional two-stroke engines
while saving consumers up to $1,000 or more annually on fuel and oil costs.
In addition, the FX140 may be the quietest watercraft ever designed,
reducing sound intensity levels by 70% at cruising speed and more than 85%
at idle compared to one of the quietest two-stroke direct injection models
available.

In addition to the purchase, the NYS DEC commended Yamaha for introducing
four-stroke technology in the watercraft industry. According to NYS DEC
Commissioner Erin Crotty, “This progressive approach to addressing the
concerns of critics of such equipment is laudable, and other manufacturers
should follow the direction set by Yamaha.”
