JIMMIE JOHNSON TO DISCUSS FIRST CAREER NWC WIN, 
OUTLOOK FOR PONTIAC EXCITEMENT 400


Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse
Chevrolet and fresh off his first career NWC victory, will be available for
a media teleconference to discuss his win in California, his rookie season
and his outlook for next weekend's race in Richmond.  

Johnson comes to Richmond and next weekend's Pontiac Excitement 400 as one
of the hottest drivers in NASCAR, scoring his first NWC victory this past
Sunday, posting top-10s in seven of the last eight races (Las Vegas - 6th,
Atlanta - 3rd, Darlington - 6th, Bristol - 7th, Texas - 6th, Talladega - 7th
and California - 1st), climbing to 5th in the NWC Championship Points race
and leading the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year competition.

For the 2002 season, Johnson is currently 5th in points and 1st in the
Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.  So far in 2002, Johnson earned his
first-career NWC victory in Sunday's NAPA Auto Parts 500, two Bud Pole
Awards (Daytona and Talladega) and has recorded seven top-10 finishes,
including two top-5s (Atlanta and California).  His earnings this season are
$857,622.
